I come from a farming background in Mid Devon and became a full time thatcher in 1986. My work was of a sufficient standard that after some rigorous inspections, I was accepted into the Devon & Cornwall Master Thatchers Association. In that time, I was also the representative on the National Council of Master Thatchers. I am now an Associate Member of the Devon & Cornwall Master Thatchers Association and a Member of the Residential Property Surveyors Association.

I have worked on many Thatched properties in Mid Devon and with Anna, my wife, we have had "hands on" project managed our own major house restorations of properties dating back to 1250, 1550, 1800, 1840, 1922 and 1975. I have experience of the following constructions: cob, stone rubble, brick, cavity brick with ash block internal leaf, and cavity concrete block with thermalite block internal leaf.

I have experience of roof constructions including thatch, asbestos sheets, turnerised slate, natural slate, asbestos and cement fibre & concrete tile.

I am a member of the RPSA and accredited by SAVA.
